MEET ARGERIE
Argerie Villalobos is a master colorist with 15+ years experience, the founder of Villalobos Studio, and a specialist in natural balayage and blonde hair. Born and raised in lush, tropical Costa Rica, she has made New Orleans her home for over a decade, finding the city to be a place where she has flourished both artistically and professionally, becoming a sought-after source for seamless hand-painted haircolor. She is a mother, a keeper of green plants, and an Argentine tango dancer.
A lifelong artist, her work as a hairstylist—in particular, her organic, artistic approach to hand-painting highlights—allows Argerie to express her passion for art and fulfill her creative need. Moved by a deep desire to connect with others, she views time spent with clients as a collaboration between a client’s goals, her expertise, and a shared vision.

Villalobos Studio provides personalized hair services in a thoughtfully converted former dance studio located in Uptown New Orleans, near the historic, tree-lined Napoleon Avenue. The root of the Villalobos Studio name is Argerie’s love for her father, a multi-instrumentalist and jewelry store owner who made art out of everything he touched. Balancing the artistic side of her heritage is her love for her mother, a strong, fearless woman who demonstrated what it looks like to take risks and become a woman of authenticity.
OUR SPECIALIZATION
Balayage is a technique of hand-painted highlights that mimic the sun’s pattern of lightening your hair, creating ribboning highlights that can either brighten the hair or subtly enhance natural hair color. A top priority at Villalobos Studio is natural-looking highlights, which is achieved through the care taken to hand-paint precise sections. Since hand-painted highlights follow each individual’s growth pattern, results are low maintenance, with an easy, natural grow-out.
